Information Required When Requesting A Picture Framing Quote
By its very nature
custom bespoke picture framing is customer specific and pricing will vary dependent upon many variables such as size of item to be framed - frame choice - type of glass such as clear or non-reflective (diffused) - safety glazing - whether a mount is required or even a double mount - how many apertures (cut outs) are required in the mount - whether an item may need stretching before framing whether delivery of the completed frame is required by the customer or will they be collecting.
Therefore it is virtually impossible for us to provide quotes similar to a set pricing menu in say a restaurant!
Look upon frame pricing similar to going into your local Ford new car dealership and asking “how much is a car” ! They may say well a used supermini car may start at £2,995 all the way to say £35,000 for a brand new 4x4 !
Also bear in mind when ordering a new frame that picture frame sizes is dictated by the size of the item to be framed and not the overall size of the picture frame. When replacing a picture frame for a new one size required is determined by measuring the rear of the frame from rebate to rebate (the backing board).For example a 16 inch x 12 inch frame is the “viewing area” not the overall frame itself size as overall frame size is dictated by the width of the frame moulding. A 16x12 frame in 1 inch black would measure 18 x14 inch overall wheras a 16 x 12 frame in 3 inch black would measure 22 x 18 overall. Both these frames would accept a photo 16x12 size.
Whilst we appreciate customers may not be aware of the “ins and outs” of custom bespoke framing we kindly ask when requesting a quote from us that you let us know the basics of your requirements such as
1. What is the item being framed
2. Approximate size of item
3. Rough idea of frame style eg brown / silver / gold
4. Do you require a mount
5. Will you be calling and collecting or sending and requiring a delivery
We will then be able to provide you with an idea of how much your framing is likely to be.
